WTO – IMF Tariff Tracker

The World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have joint efforts to monitor changes in applied tariff duties.

The Tariff Actions dataset tracks changes to effectively applied tariff duties offering a detailed view of how import duties evolve over time. Effectively applied tariff rates are recorded at the tariff line level in the WTO's Integrated Database. These rates incorporate the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) applied duty and preferential tariff rates. Subsequently tariff actions are included, which may increase, decrease, or substitute a certain tariff level.

The detailed tariff line information is aggregated to the 6-digit subheading level of the Harmonized System (HS) and aggregated to the Multilateral Trade Negotiations (MTN) product classification consisting of a two-level structure with 22 MTN categories and 72 sub-categories. The Tariff Tracker records initial levels and changes in effective applied duties, along with their implementation dates, at the bilateral and product levels.

The WTO-IMF Tariff Tracker provides this information for transparency and analysis but does not imply endorsement by either organization.
